CBCT scanning
in York

CBCT scanners are also known as cone-beam computed tomography. This is a modern scanning system that gives us a 3D view of your teeth, jaw and sinuses. With highly accurate views of your mouth structures, it’s easier for us to diagnose problems and plan treatments. This technology is more advanced than a simple X-ray and more convenient to use.

What are the benefits of CBCT scanning?

  • Provides interactive, 3D imagery
  • Pain-free and fast procedure
  • Offers a low dose of radiation
  • Allows us to create enhanced treatment plans
  • Able to scan both soft tissue and bone

How does a CBCT scan work?

As a patient, you might be curious to know what is involved with a CBCT scan. From a clinical perspective, it gives us the best possible view of your mouth and dental structures. From a patient’s perspective, this is a quick and efficient way for your dentist to get the information they need. To obtain a 3D image of your mouth, your dentist will ask you to stand in a certain position while the machine rotates around your head.

The machine takes over 150 pictures of your mouth to construct a 3D view. These images can then be used to diagnose issues, create treatment plans and predict outcomes of treatments. This machinery is useful in both general and cosmetic dentistry and can also help to spot the early signs of dental issues. CBCT scanning is one of the most effective ways for your dentist to plan treatments with highly favourable outcomes.
